The aromatic and intense nigella seeds (Nigella sativa), also known as black cumin, come from a plant characteristic of the Middle East. The valuable properties of nigella were already appreciated in ancient Egypt, where it was called the gold of the pharaohs. These black seeds with their sharp, intense flavour are now mainly used as an aromatic spice with a wide range of culinary applications.
Cumin contains a high content of dietary fibre. It is a source of zinc, which helps maintain healthy hair, skin and nails, and also supports the maintenance of healthy bones.
Leading a healthy lifestyle and eating a balanced diet is key to maintaining good health.
